Our Book "Hiraeth-Stories from Welsh Patagonia"

Huge thank you's to anyone who has already bought the book "Hiraeth: Stories from Welsh Patagonia". It's available from The Coach House in St Dogmaels, Yr Oriel in Newport and I think it's in Custom House in Cardigan. And various other places! Or you can order it on Amazon. (But please buy local if poss)
Steph and I were at The House of Commons on Monday for a reception and presentation of the book and project. Feel very lucky that Steph asked me to illustrate it, and also pretty emotional to finally see all of Steph's hard work pay off.

Online Shop Open!

The Printing Angels have looked out for me this week, have finally found a great, reliable and local printer! I take a lot of pride in what I do, and the quality of what I put up for sale, so I'm chuffed I can re-open my shop without any doubts!

I've re-listed items onto my Etsy shop as well as this new seascape illustration which is for sale as a limited edition giclee print. It's A3 size, £35.00 + shipping.

Take a look at what else is for sale here --- >  https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/LucyBurnsIllustrates

Cardigan Castle commission

Last autumn I was commissioned by Cadwgan to create nine illustrations for the reopening of Cardigan Castle. The brief outlined the need for historical interpretations for the exterior panels to be displayed around the site.

I had a huge amount of fun creating these images, it was a total pleasure and the committee were very open to my input which was great.

Last month, the panels were finally delivered and installed. As you can see, I am very proud ...I am also squinting at the sun : /  ... I've photographed each panel and uploaded them onto my website, which can be found at www.lucy-burns.com

Temporary hold on my online shop- Will be up again soon!

I've had to put a temporary hold on my online shop but everything will be back up soon.

I had some unexpected set backs when ordering the print for my first Etsy sale, and so am now researching alternative printing companies in Wales.

I want everything I sell from my Etsy shop to be consistent in print quality and in the costs, so it didn't make sense to keep it live while I am trying out different different companies! Only a couple more to test, keep an eye on LucyBurnsIllustrates  X

Project Hiraeth

Really proud to say I illustrated this website which tells the story of the welsh colony in Patagonia.
It explains how it all began 150 years ago and documents the lives and stories of those in the welsh speaking community who still live there today.

Folio Society/House of Illustration Competition Entry 2015

Here are my four entries to this years competition. I've loved working with these short stories, I hope I've managed to capture some of the atmosphere I felt reading them. Folio Society have such a beautiful way of reimagining classic literature through their book covers and I've looked to their artists for inspiration so often.
If you're not already familiar, here's the website  www.foliosociety.com

Happy 2015!

Like a little mole, I'm blinking at the mornings wondering if it's safe to come out. But it is! Already really excited for all my hard work in late 2014 to be put to good use. I've been lucky enough to work on a really exciting commission which will unfold this year, alongside two other on-going collaborations which have both made me feel very lucky. Some very talented people in this little corner of Wales. Here is a self directed illustration I created yesterday to help ease myself into the new year. Hwyl : ) ....for now
